Minor in Artificial Intelligence
The Minor in Artificial Intelligence degree program enables students to learn how Artificial Intelligence systems work and their application towards solving societal problems. Earning an AI minor gives students seeking careers in liberal arts, business, health, and other fields an opportunity to increase their competitiveness in a workplace being transformed by artificial intelligence. Note that the courses within the Minor will eventually be integrated within the Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence.
Program Requirements
To earn a minor in artificial intelligence, a student must complete:
- AI 112 Generative AI Studio (4)
- AI 141 Foundations: Computing Systems (4)
- AI 142 Foundations: Computation (4)
- AI 241 Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (4)
- CS 161 Introduction to Programming and Problem-solving (4)
- Approved AI Elective (4)
Total Credit Hours: 24
Program notes:
- Only grades of C or better count toward departmental requirements. At least 12 of the required 24 credits must be taken at Portland State University.
- Approved AI Minor courses include any lower-division AI or CS course.
